Meet your Psychologist, Ally

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST & DIRECTOR

Ally Sarah

To me, being a psychologist means being genuine and authentic. The therapy chair is one of the bravest chairs a person could choose to sit in, so I can’t expect my clients to be their whole selves if I’m hiding being a facade. My highest priority is meeting each client exactly where they currently are with genuine care and empathy, and helping guide them to understand the path they want to embark on together.

Through both my lived experience with mental health difficulties, and my work over the years with clients, I know that to be with another person in this empathic way is the only way to help one feel safe enough to share their true selves. In turn, this allows us to look deep within and become acquainted with our true self.

We cannot change, we cannot move away from what we are, until we thoroughly accept what we are. Then change seems to come about almost unnoticed.

Approach and Modality

I work using a person-centred, transdiagnostic and evidence-based approach. Person-centred therapy is driven by trusting human potential, providing clients with empathy and unconditional positive regard to help facilitate change. The primary focus of therapy is on the individual clients needs, to offer support, structure, insight and guidance, so that the client can discover personalised solutions within themselves. This focuses on treating the person first, not just the diagnosis.

I have worked across the lifespan and in many settings, including inpatient mental health, community mental health and private practice. I now work primarily with clients seeking support for anxiety, perfectionism, OCD, identity exploration and relationship anxiety. I identify as a cis woman, and am passionate about creating a safe, accessible space for clients to express all parts of their identity. It is an honour to be trusted in your therapy journey, and I hope to express my deep gratitude for your bravery during our time together.

My primary therapy modalities include:

  • Schema Therapy

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Gottman Couples Therapy
